When I first heard about the Fabulous Shoe Night organization I thought, what a fun idea! Founder Jennifer McDevitt has created a fresh concept that is taking shape with chapters that started in the Philadelphia region but are now growing in other states..

Round up a group of friends or professional women who want to network, host a Happy Hour at a local venue with yummy appetizers, rustle up some nice raffle prizes and designate your favorite charity as beneficiary. Viola!  You have a Fabulous Shoe Night Party or a “Happy Hour for a Cause”.

Lea Tran of Distinctive Designs, who heads the King of Prussia chapter of FSN, approached Shannon Myers and I about hosting a happy hour to promote my book and blog.  Perfect, I thought.  It’s February, and we all need a reason to literally “kick up our heels” to liven up the bland winter days.  It would give me a chance to meet new people and to introduce them to my blog.  I also wanted to let everyone know that my book will be available soon (I hope).  I decided that LBBC – Living Beyond Breast Cancer would be the recipient of the event’s proceeds. As a 20 year+ Breast Cancer survivor, I am indebted to them for their support when I needed it most.

Our event was held this week at Bahama Breeze. It was a perfect setting. We had our appetizers spread out on a table that circled their warm fire pit in one room and then had the raffle prizes displayed in another area with bistro tables.

Just as it was for the fundraiser in memory of Lauren, I was again touched by the warm support and generosity of people who supported us. From their purchase of admission and raffle prize tickets, we raised approximately $1,000 for LBBC!  All the while we laughed and had fun admiring each others fabulous shoes. We awarded a prize to Mika Maloney of Projects that Matter for best shoes because she attended totally accessorized with our shoe theme. She wore a great pair of heels, had a fabulous handbag with shoe logos woven into the fabric and to top it off, wore a chain link belt that dangled with shoe charms.

Take a look at these photos and you can see what a good time we had!

With its lovely gazebo, I’m thinking about hosting another FSN in the warm weather at the Bahama Bahama – this time with tropical drinks.
