There is a church in my community that has its billboard along a busy road that I travel daily. I’d love to ask the pastor who is responsible for their weekly posts because these clever quips are always so thought provoking. I can’t tell you how many times I have driven by, read their sign, and then paused mentally to really think about their words.
In today’s world, we are bombarded by words, images, and music everywhere, all in the name of advertising. Sadly, most of it is nonsense. And, because we are constantly inundated, we become numb with this “noise” and might easily dismiss the real gems of sage wit, such as this sign.
This week’s message caught my eye because it was a quote about Change:
“Change is Inevitable”.
“Growth is Optional”.
I love this! It sums up the subject matter of my book perfectly!
As I’ve learned well, life and change are in partnership. Get used to it. You are simply along for the inevitable ride. And only you can choose how to take the ride by either fighting it or flowing with it. You will decide whether to allow change to strengthen or to weaken you.
With my life altering changes, I decided, sometimes sadly and painfully, to grow and learn from them. I was determined to accept the changes. And despite heartache and fear, I would be a champion by mastering them. When you read my book, I think that you will understand what I mean.
Reminds me of another quote that I love:
“Life is 10% how you make it and 90% how you take it.”
